Trucks From Colorado Day!

Nothing like a sweet, believing baby in the morning.

I guess a sweet, not sleeping baby is pretty great, too. (This is a result of the kids just pushing doors closed instead of turning the knob.)

Not sure if tears of joy or grief should be shed. It's been 16 months since we've had things like dressers,  toys, bedframes, and a reasonable number of pots, spatulas, and dishes. But only the work that is to be had. We still have most of the house to paint, and blinds, towel racks, ceiling fans and the like to install...

But the trucks are here!

First piece of carnage. Ironically enough, Bryan's been trying to talk me into a new, bigger, TV. However, I feel like the 100 inch projector screen is plenty big enough and this is just fine for the living room.

Guess he wins. Wonder how he worked this one out.

Second piece. Looks like the top of our mirror for our dresser. Could be worse, but given that we used that set for a while 6 months...I was hoping to keep it for a while.

EJ- what is on your feet?! And waist?!

Water shoes, Mom! And my old Tiny Tigers belt. And look, my watch! The excitement begins. Should have planned better. We could have just made this their Christmas present.

Hard to see, but that's 3 teens rocking out to AC/DC there.. They're clearly Thumderstruck after all that work.

It's after 2200! Where is Elijah, I asked Micah. He nods to the closet and this pops out.

2230 and I had to go remind Selah lights out. At least we shouldn't hear, "I'm bored!" For a while!!

Splashin' on a Saturday

This is the face of an almost-teenager who got a new pet that is nocturnal.  She's had a rough couple of nights and is tired!
We recurve assume serious rain overnight.  So much that the governor had declared a state of emergency in Detroit. They got 6 inches. Every freeway was closed due to flooding.  Hundreds of cars were abandoned.  It was like the bomb cyclone of March 2019 in CO. And they're calling for another 2 inches in the next 24 hours. Insane.

I have no idea how this could be comfortable,  but here he is,  sleeping away.

"Mom! Close the blinds and turn on the noisemaker! I think Judah is going to let me rock him to sleep!"

So that ended like you would assume,  but it was so sweet that he wanted to try.

Someone was helping with the painting. And he may have kicked the wall.  He painted his toes and the bottom of his foot.  And then acted like he had no idea what happened!

Micah and Elijah asked for a dark grey room.  It's as dark as I'm willing to go right now.  Hope they love it.

"MOM! this is it.  This is the year. The BROWNS are going to the SUPER BOWL! Dad said it and I agree with him."

Time will tell...

Mosquito Paradise. Seriously, it's so large it had waves from the wind. Selah checked the depth- deeper than her boots. Of course.

This beauty was a gift from Susan. It's Huge. It took Bryan multiple trips to lowes to get it hung.  But he did,  and at a height I can reach to water it.

Isn't it a beauty?!

This face. He's got the cute smiles down to a T.

He LOVES his blocks. By far his favorite toy. Of course, he wants to eat them all and it makes me crazy because they aren't designed to be chewed on and who knows what is in that paint!

That moment when you feel like it is going WAY too fast. He looks so big/old.

3 hours of feet free time is the life! He's constantly moving them all around.

A little Obi-Hog-Kenobi snippet. He's still terrified and therefore difficult to hold. But he is cute.

Meet Obi-Hog-Kenobi

Selah got a new pet, today.  She named him Obi-Hog-Kenobi. He's a hedgehog.
Maize was adopted by some friends in CO who watched her while we were in VA. Selah was so sad, but her daddy promised her a new pet once we had a house again.

Today was the day because he called and they had a girl hedgehog, finally. They drove over an hour and a half (each way) to pick up her new hedgehog... and it turns out they had already sold both girls. (Bryan tried to pay over the phone but the lady assured him there was no need.)

So, it was a valiant effort he made to give her a much desired sister. But alas, she and I remain the only two females in the house.

He's very scared right now,  but we hope he'll warm up soon.  He's too prickly to hold when he is scared!

21‐Hour Wear!

Orthopedic check-up today.  It was a bit of a doozy. We were there 2 hours.  I forgot his bottle in the car (wouldn't have thought I'd need it anyway.)

When your favorite 5 month old STARTS the ultra-long morning with this face.... you know it'll be a long morning.

Mom,  why haven't they taken my boots off, yet?

I don't want to wait for the doctor!

I don't want to look at the baby!

I don't want to wear boots!

Please just take them off!

Doc came and reduced his hours in boots and bar to 21 a day! Yay! Feet both look great.

Life isn't so bad without the boots,  waiting for the boot lady to look at my heel.

I like my boots when they aren't on my feet!

We have been such in a cycle,  if you can pray this heals. Any time I leave the bandaid off, he gets a blister. But the bandaids cause irritation where the adhesive is. This has been an issue for months and now it just looks like a hole in his foot. Lynne, the boot lady, added some padding bigger in his leg to try to keep the heel away  from the boot entirely. Really hoping this helps!

We stored at Costco on the way home. Judah was asleep in the car and I hoped he'd stay asleep.  He didn't but then laid his head on my shoulder and I was hopefully he went back to sleep.  He never just lays his head down.  I used my phone camera as a mirror and... not asleep. And he saw himself in the phone and stopped snuggling, too. But I did have a brief moment and even proof in the form of this picture!

Practicing Tricks.

Well, after a week of wonderful naps, we are back to the 15-30 min variety. So sad because I was able to actually get some things accomplished when he was napping!

Today's first nap was 30 minutes but I was able to get him to go back to sleep for another 20. I was worried because he was sleeping on his side (which he has always loved but had to stop once he got his boots and bar.) He didn't have his boots and bar on because they were off for some play time and when Judah is done, he is DONE. There is no "let's put your boots on, right quick." He will get too worked up and be impossible to put down. So I missed the window and figured he could have a nap with free feet.

Which meant he slept on his side.

Which meant he rolled himself over. And he WILL NOT sleep on his tummy.
He was certainly cute yelling at us but that was the end of that nap and the others, while they included boots and no rolling over, were mini-naps and he was a serious grump all day. Please pray we can get back to good naps! My sanity, other kids, and house need the good naps!

Water-Colorey Day

We had some crazy Thunderstorms roll through last night. All. Night. It was difficult to sleep.  We also got 1.3 inches of rain.  (Rochester got 1.8!) As a result, we had some serious flooding.

Judah was more interested in eating those boots he can never seem to reach!
The kids have Jedi Training Camp (taekwondo) this week. On the way, Jonah backed thug the lake so he could drive through it. I know this beggars it was loud. And then...I knew when they were home because I heard a vehicle go tearing through the puddle...twice. Thankfully,  they didn't get stuck. I'm sure our neighbors love us already...

I want to give him credit for playing with the baby...but the poor baby is on the hard floor while he is lounging on the new shag carpet! He claims he wiggled himself over there!

Jonah also likes to do Judah's hair. And it's always straight up in the air!

Color!!! Hard to tell,,  but it's a greige  color,  just very light. Yay for the start!

He did indeed enjoy that bath. And he's sol cute in there!

Such a big boy,  loves to hold his own bottle.  He still needs help because he often takes it back out, but he does insist on being the primary!
