Fast- paced Saturday Fun

I never get sick of gazing at this mountain. I wish I could see it from my bed (well, I could if I moved my bed closer to the window.) But I have great views from my chairs in my bedroom as well as the living room, dinner table, and even the kitchen.  I'm not complaining,  I love it and take advantage daily!

We made a healthy chocolate cup cookie dough dip today, from chickpeas. It was so good and you'd never know there were chickpeas.

We also celebrated the end of the indoor soccer season here today. I seem quite glad as it has made things very hectic. They all played well and more importantly had a blast. And yes,  everyone gets a trophy here.
We followed that chaos with game night at the church with other homeschooled children. The kids always have fun at that but I don't usually take pictures when other people's kids are involved so you'll have to imagine it.

Backseat Driver

Took this cutie to Costco with me this evening. (Random picture that Noah took of him today.)

Driving home we had this conversation-
E: Mom, what's the speed limit?
Me: 55
E: oh, well you're doing pretty good. You're only sometimes going one over that. But maybe you want to slow down a little so when you're going one more it's just the speed limit. You should go 54.
....A minute later....
E: Mom. You better hope there's no police around here. You're going 59!
Me: yes, but everyone around me is going even faster so it's unlikely I'd get a ticket.
E: yeah, well that doesn't make it okay!

Point taken.  I went the speed limit or LESS the rest of the way home.

We also made homemade Brazilian cheese bread today. (If you haven't heard, they're naturally GF and all the Brazilian steak houses serve them.) We buy them at Costco but even there they are stupidly expensive. The homemade ones got 2 thumbs up from the kids. Better than the store bought ones. There were 2 left tonight attend they were already asking when I was making then again. Tomorrow, perhaps?

School days...

This guy created himself a "bunk bed" to sleep on tonight. Imagine his disappointment when his mother said no. Broken bones are not on my to do list at the moment!

In other news, Noah taught Micah how to mess around with computers and change things on the screen. Micah is pretty much a perfectionist when it comes to school and was super upset about the score he recieved that originally said excellent next to it.

Mr. Sleepyhead

Someone wasn't actually ready to get up and face the day after staying up too late tagging along at CAP.

So he went back to sleep...

And literally didn't get up until 10.

After that he was more than ready to play with his new truck.

Cold, Fat Tuesday

The day started out chilly, to say the least. Painfully cold and windy. 25 mph sustained winds and they contained over 60 mph gusts.  In my not-so-expert opinion, it was more like 40 for sustained and 75 for the gusts. Sleeping was elusive as the house sounded like it was going to come down. And opening the door was immediately regretted.
Selah took advantage of the weather and  made a headband.

Then we threw some dough in some oil.

Once they were done, we filled them with cream.

Paczki. It's what's for Fat Tuesday.

The closest place I could find selling them was almost a 2 hour drive. So we made our own.  The ones in the back are GF. Those need serious work.  But Micah was thrilled to have some anyway, and there rest came out pretty well.

The forecast said wind and less than an inch of snow.  Well most areas had none...but others looked like this. Needless to say we missed soccer because we had to shovel to get out.

We were all almost in tears getting to the car after taekwondo send CAP. Now we know why. We weren't dressed for those temps, I assure you.

Someone's in the Kitchen...

And it wasn't me! Jonah made dinner tonight.
Smashburgers! One of the things I hate about winter is no burgers, it's also one of what I hate about no husband around. I really have never messed with the grill.

(He wasn't thrilled about the photo taking so it was limited.)

They were very good, having not been to smashburger I can't compare. (And...I like his dad's on the grill better.) But they were certainly delicious, and we only had one incident with the smoke alarm.  I'd call it a win.

Bonus- Pretty sunset.

Sunsets, Air Force One, and Legos Make For A Good Day

The king of photo bombs around here.

Selah was very proud of her newest creation. She did a great job building it and an even better job sharing with her brothers.
we've been having a rough go lately. Not sure if he's under the weather, missing his dad,  or just kinda spoiled.  But there's been more daily tantrums than the average 3 year old.
He's learned to hide when the camera comes out while he's upset.
That was the third.  Before lunch.
But the day improved with the sunset!
I went outside to run,  despite the fact it was 20 degrees, and was rewarded with a gorgeous view.
President Trump was in town,  so there was security everywhere. (Helicopter over mountains.)

Took the kids to see Air Force One parked out back after their lesson.  They were impressed but hoped for a glimpse of the president.

Sick Day or Snow Day

It was a sick day/snow day around here. I'm not sick, so I thought it was a great catch up day.  Modified school and some cleaning woth beautiful views all day.
