Week in Review

Actually, a couple of weeks ago. I uploaded pics and never came back and wrote anything.

We had an ice cream making teen night, 5 ice cream makers are loud. But not as loud as all the teens.

Judah cleaned up the stairs. He took trips up and made this pile, one item at a time.

Just loving those curls.

Playing baseball with Noah. (Yes, Elijah is in there, too.)

Jonah was making dinner  one night while Bryan was in England. Judah wanted to help. Jonah was a good sport as long as he could be.

He made some kind of burger...Brazilian, maybe? He took egg yolks, soaked them in salt and sugar for a few hours, made a dough  and wrapped a burger topped with egg and cheese in the dough then deep fried it. When you're 20 you can eat like that.

One of the kids took this great shot.

I didn't get to try it, but it went over pretty well. Maybe there will be a repeat once Bryan can try it.
I so appreciated the night off from cooking 2 meals, and just having to worry about Judah and I. The dishes...whew. Those were miraculously not visible in the above pic.

Never did get a picture of this

One mad baby. I don't remember why he was mad, but he was MAD.

Those egg yolks left a bunch of egg whites for a rainy day. Micah talked me into making meringues.  I made roughly 100. At 8 pm. There was one lone cookie when Bryan got home 24 hours later. Guess they were a win.

The Confirmation That Wasn't...Finally Was

This post has been in my draft folder for, about 4 months, it seems. So take that into consideration.

January-

This weather is a joke.  It's been oh so cold. Yet we have no snow.

It's going to continue to be cold.  The snow in the forcast is for an inch of accumulation. It was too cold to ski today. And for the most part,  there is no sun.

Oh and yes no end in sight. I mean,  if you're lucky May is decent.

Why do we live here?!

Job. Right.

But if we saved enough to buy a little Farm, maybe we could provide for the family without a real job?? Somewhere you can farm year round.

January 11

No skiing this week was fine since Noah had Confirmation scheduled for tonight.  And we had been to no- less- than 10 stores over the last few days looking for a suit. Between the lack of availability thanks to COVID,  and his insanely small waist, it's been very frustrating. On a whim we stopped at a thrift store as a last ditch effort before returning to kohls to buy the only possibility that I hated and was pained to spend 150$ on.

(Yes,  I know this is what happens when you wait until the last minute. I forgot he needed a new suit. His waist isn't growing, but he is getting taller. )

Thanks to some fervent and desperate prayers for St Anthony's intercession, I found this at the thrift store. For 11.99. And it looked like it would fit (no fitting rooms thanks to COVID).

We rushed from the thrift store to the barber shop. Where the guy thought he was cutting Judah's hair. Ummm....the one tiny curl in the back? No , definitely here to shorten the mop on the teenager here. Judah was a good tag-along.

Then we came home, scurried around to get  people ready only to get a phone call that Confirmation was postponed.
Well at least everyone is prepared, assuming Noah doesn't grow too much in the meantime.

Fast Forward to May 31...Confirmation time again! But in the hustle and bustle...it was almost missed. I thought today was Monday, and the rest of the world was clueless. Good thing a friend of Noah's reached out for info or it could have been disastrous.

All's well that end's well.

Noah has been sealed with the Holy Spirit.

His Confirmation name is Isadore. Not the farmer, the Bishop from the 6th century who is somehow the patron saint of computer programming.

Just a couple of randoms found on the camera.

Judah loves to throw balls if you put him in the ball pit. He is FAST too, makes one big mess in no time flat.

Can't really get mad at the face, though!

Some Gave All

A few old pics that are some of my faves...

(Jonah asked why I didn't correct his salute. He was like 9 and it was an impromptu moment that I just happened to be quick enough to capture. And, considering he hadn't been taught to salute yet, it really wasn't that bad. It's a reflection,  not the wrong hand. I still love this one, bad salute and all.)

Always grateful for all those who gave their lives for our freedom. It's more that a day to barbecue, and we didn't do the best job of hammering that home this year. But we did offer some prayers and enjoy the nice weather while building Judah a bed,  finally! Hopefully it will be finished tomorrow.

The kids played slip and slide baseball for a while.  Sort of, apparently you need more than 3 people to play baseball!
After barbecuing some sausages, we had a family cornhole tournament.  You can tell one of us plays often and the rest do not.

Judah learned a new trick. Which he kept practicing and laughing about.

And Micah insisted on posting the results.

And Micah Makes Three!

Traditional Black Belt Candlelit Ceremony
(probably not the real name but you get the idea)

Stay tuned...Selah is close to hers as well!

This guy woke up right at the worst time, just as Micah was getting his belt. He wasn't happy so photo creds of Micah go to Elijah! He came around once he got over the fact he wasn't in bed asleep. This face brings us so much joy.

Random photos found on the memory card. Exactly what I was hoping would happen by leaving the camera on the counter.
