Noah's 3 1/2!!!

So my friend, Melissa, had a recent post about wet sock days. (Her day was much worse than mine, though!) I HATE wet socks. The only thing that ruins my day faster that wet socks (baring a true emergency) is broken glass. I DESPISE broken glass. It makes me feel ill. It takes so long to clean up, and then inevitably, weeks later, someone gets a piece of it in their foot. Thankfully that someone always seems to be Bryan or I.
Rewind to yesterday...
The day started with Jonah tearing up the stairs while I was dressing Selah (mind you this is FIRST THING, before breakfast.) He yells, "Mom! Come quick! There is an emergency!"
What do I do?
I grab Selah with her onesie half-on and go tearing DOWN the stairs. Jonah hasn't even said the emergency yet. I don't hear any crying, but that makes me worry more- is Noah even breathing?
Then he says "Noah broke glass all over the basement!"
Now I am really worried. Where is Noah and why isn't he crying? Did he somehow manage to slit his throat with all this glass?
So I get to the basement in about 3 seconds (literally) and there is Noah, just standing at the bottom of the stairs.
"Are you okay?" I breathlessly inquire.
"Yeah. I'm fine." Noah calmly replies. "There is just glass all over."
So there I am, with my mind-full of horrendous emergencies, which can now be safely re-shelved until the next "emergency" alarm. I wait until Noah is safely out of the "danger zone," consider beating him, but decide to be grateful for his continued safety.
As I said. I HATE broken glass. It took me until after dinner to clean it up, just because I didn't want to deal with it. But everyone was alive and not bloody, no need to call an ambulance, life is good.

The broken glass was not only at the bottom of the stairs in the way,but in the middle of a mess, making it that much more fun!

With all of the excitement, my mom forgot that it was Noah's half birthday!
(I'm just showing off my two teeth here, waiting for dessert!)

Noah eating Cookie Crisp with bananas (Gross!)
There was a HALF of a banana in his cookies.

Snack was a HALF of a mini fruit roll-up. He and Jonah chose that. (I would feel bad, but since he had cookies for breakfast, that is enough sugar!)

What? Where'd it go?

Mmmm, it is SO good!

Lunch was HALF bagel bites and a HALF of a Salami sandwich.
(He was really excited to be able to make a whole out of his two halves. I was confused. Usually he gets a whole- and all of a sudden a whole is cooler...)

Don't forget the HALF cup, HALF full of HALF water and HALF juice!
(Oh, and Noah only eats HALF his sandwich- meat only. He always wants bread and never eats it. Usually he eats his cheese, but he was just too excited today!)

Today's "half birthday" outfit?
Swim shirt over Long sleeve t-shirt.
Swim shorts- over nothing.
And hockey socks to keep the legs warm.
(Bet you didn't know they still sold leg warmers these days!)

Noah's choice for dinner was homemade macaroni and cheese.
(I wasn't sure if the kids would eat it with the breadcrumbs, hence the half and half)

And corn dogs to go with that mac.
Noah's favorite.

Finish it all off with some homemade ice cream cake.
(I was trying to get a picture before Noah ate it, but wasn't quick enough, and in my haste didn't let the camera focus. But they were snowflake shaped cakes, and pretty cute!)
Next is Selah's half birthday...and she gets to try cereal for it!

My life...

In case you can't read it, the bubble says...
"Mom! Guess what! We've been making snowflakes!"
This is SO my life.
Bryan's comment was...
"Gee, what a bah-humbug!"
HA! Case and point.

Pool Party in February in Michigan!

Jaclyn and Tyler had their birthday party last weekend.
Thankfully they had it at the indoor pool, instead of the one in their backyard!

I'm ready! We still have to wait 7 hours???
(Noah was ready at 7 a.m., too. I tried to explain that they didn't need the shirt since it was indoors, but they didn't care.)

Noah was a bit scared in the beginning.
But warmed up after a while (camera battery died, hence the blurry phone pictures.)

Jonah, floating in the lazy river.

Selah, all worn out driving home.

Noah, too.

Jonah is not to be left out.

Life with Noah...

All in one day...

I guess that I should not have eaten the deodorant...I feel a little ill.
(What you cannot see is the deodorant all over the floor, stairs, his coat and face. This is what happens when Noah is quiet in time out.)
Couple of hours later I found this...

And this.
Plugged it in all by himself.
(Scary.)
When I got the gas bill, I turned the heat down a bit. Bryan was protesting.

What? Oh, no. I knew I looked silly. Mom said I didn't but I can see the look on your face...

The boys,
probably watching animals eat each other.

The Patio Fort

We have had so many forts I cannot keep up. But this is the one that was on the back patio...

The boys hanging out on the inside.

The entrance to the fort.

Emergency Exit.

The outside of the fort.

What happens when there is a heat wave.

Lowe's Build and Grow

On the second and fourth Saturday (usually) Lowe's has a program called Build and Grow where the kids get to build a project. It's fun, family-oriented and, best of all, FREE! We started this in GA when Bryan was in Egypt, to combat boredom. And we still do it, the kid's LOVE it. This week they built jewelry boxes.

We're like a sweat shop, putting our kids to work early round here.

Noah, starting his jewelry box.

Bryan and Jonah, trying to figure out the directions.

The finishing touches (pretty much all Noah does.)

And he gave it to his little sister.
So sweet!

Jonah, getting rid of the rough spots.
Guess I never got a picture of the finished products, but they were cute, even have a mirror in them.
Next week, a race car. (Much cooler than a jewelry box!)

Deep Fried Twinkies

So we only have dessert on Fridays...in an effort to be healthier. (Fruit is always allowed as a dessert, but the good stuff is just on Fridays.)

And this week's dessert was deep fried Twinkies.

YUM!

Healthy they are not...

First, you insert a stick and freeze Twinkie at least 4 hours.

Then, you remove the wrapper...if desired. (We desired.)

Then you have to convince the baby to give up the measuring cups so you can make the batter...or else, estimate.

Next, dust with flour, dip in batter and fry until golden brown.

Noah: I LOVE these deep fried Twinkies-take a picture of me, Mom! ....but I am not going to look at the camera. Ha ha haha
Jonah: These are my favorite dessert EVER!
Bryan: Mmm, not bad! (He was very skeptical.)

What do mean I cannot have a Twinkie?
I am MAD!

Valentine's Day 2006

We just found this picture in a box, some of you may remember it.
This was Valentine's Day 2006, Jonah was 4 (with a bad haircut) and Noah was 5 1/2 months (with no hair). Selah sure does look like her brothers...just half the size. How fast they grow...

Happy Valentine's Day

Valentine's Day is a very commercial holiday in my book. But, alas, I thought I would share some "holiday" photos...

Valentine's 2008

(When I actually had time to take the kids to the portrait studio- boy do I miss Picture People!!!)

This year, much more candid...
(Noah is so smug looking in the corner there.)

Selah: Noah, do you always have to sing the ABC song? Even I know that one, now!

Mother, I think a rescue is in order.

Why can they not stop touching my head???

I am not Gumby. Please stop messing with me!

Noah, get out of my face! Jonah, STOP. RUBBING. MY. HEAD!

"Well, that's my first Valentine's Day photo session...I hope to never have to repeat that adventure... On a more positive note, my brother's are going to play with the trucks at Mr. Eric and Ms. Tammy's tomorrow and Daddy is taking Mommy and I out to lunch! I can't wait to try to sneak some food off of their plates!"
