So this is how it went down last night. I showed Jonah the bed, and he says, "WOW. That is awesome."
M:"Yeah, do you like it?"
J: "I love it. I'll take the bottom bunk and Noah can have the top bunk!"
Wow, I think, he's going to compromise he wants this so badly...
M: "Really? Why is that?"
J: "Well, because the controls are in the front there on the bottom!"
Ha. Should have known better! Next thing I hear is:
J: "Noah look at this Space Shuttle bunk bed!"
N: " WOW. I want that bed!"
J: "Yeah, and you can sleep on the top so you can fix the satellite!"
HA HA HA. Talk about manipulative. No mention of what is on the bottom, just how cool the top is!
We then explained to the boys- who mistakenly thought that they were getting this- that it cost $2600 (yeah, plus shipping. I SO wish it didn't!) and they would not be getting this -but Mom and Dad would try to make them one once we move into a house, again.
So they continue to talk all day today about how cool this is, and then Noah and I run to the grocery store. His favorite thing to do there is look at the cakes in the bakery. So we make a quick stop by the bakery, and he sees a "vanilla and chocolate" cake. It's a cheesecake covered in ganache. He tells me this is what he wants for his birthday.
Well, we get home and he tells Jonah about this cake, and how he's having it for his birthday. And Jonah asks, "but I thought you wanted a space shuttle cake for your birthday!"
Noah replies, "Well, we are getting a space shuttle bed, so it's okay if we don't have a space shuttle cake, and have the chocolate and vanilla one!"
Once again, I had to remind the boys there are not getting a space shuttle bed anytime soon, but if Noah wants a "chocolate and vanilla cake" instead, I'm all for it. WAY easier to make a cheesecake than a 3D space shuttle!!
