Through the Eyes of Children

One thing I never stopped rejoicing about in Colorado (besides the obvious views of Pike's Peak from my living room and bedroom) was not having to return cans!

I do not mind recycling. I HATE returning to the store for a refund. However, I also hate giving the government even more of my money.

For a while, Jonah was poor enough to take the cans back. These days he isn't so desperate for five bucks and they've been piling up for months.

Micah, Judah, and I went on a date and took care of five trash bags. Well, three, because 2 bags full have to be returned to Costco.

The worst part of the whole system is that we can only return a can if the store sells that exact item. The wrong flavor of Sprindrift means it must go back to Costco. Of course, most others things are not from Costco. And anything that is store specific (Trader Joes, Whole Foods, etc) must go back to that store.

It really probably is not worth my time and the mess as it piles up in the garage.

But then we are back to the whole "giving the government extra money" thing. Should you follow Michigan politics at all, you'll likely know why they already get too much of our money to spend on ridiculous things.

So, besides the two trash bags spilled all over the back of the van waiting for a Costco run, we had a successful little excursion.

It's a fascinating thing to watch them get crushed.

Micah paid for Judah to ride the horse. He thought it was great fun.

Micah also bought a pint of Talenti coffee ice cream. Unfortunately, it was certainly made with real coffee and he didn't sleep a wink. He was also crazy sore the next day because he tried doing as many pushups as he could at 2 am trying to tire himself out. Lesson learned?
