Urology Resident came by. Stated that the urine culture is growing staph epidermis bacteria. That is a bacteria that is present on the skin, and so most likely indicates contamination, rather than an infection. They will, however, treat it nonetheless. (A quick Google search found a recent research article that DID determine it can be the cause of infection, contrary to prior indication/ belief otherwise. Therefore, while it probably was contamination, I'm glad they're going to treat it.)
They do think it wise to replace IV, as he has struggled with fluids and meds. So the nurse put in the request and they should be in shortly. If so think it's wise, I just don't think they're magic and he's not giving them much to work with. Praying they can find a vein and we can not lose this IV.
In other news, he had a great night sleeping, when no one was bugging him. And his fever is coming back up. But he's at least not been constantly uncomfortable.
