I failed to get a family picture. Or really any pictures on Easter, save one of Jude opening the tomb.
Micah and Elijah did an altar server retreat for all of the Tridium. They were there Wednesday night and from 7 am to 10 pm Thursday and Friday, and then 7 am until after they served the Vigil Saturday. They didn't get home until after midnight. Then Micah also served Easter Sunday at our parish.
They were tired, but in good spirits. They had a lot of fun and learned a lot. I don't have any pictures except for one from the Chrism Mass with Archbishop Vigneron.
Elijah is all the way to left on the front row, and Micah is near the back in the middle aisle.
While they were busy serving the Lord, Judah, Selah and I were busy cooking and cleaning. Judah helped with poking holes in the puff pastry for the Kremowka (Papal Creme Cake. Of note, too many holes in one spot makes the puff pastry cracker-like.)
Judah really enjoyed making Resurrection Cookies, and even Jonah joined us for it!
We even had the police show up to help us beat Jesus. (I just now see the irony in that.)
He happens to like the salt more than he should.
Waiting on those egg whites to whip.
Helping to fold in the rocks he smashed.
Sealing the tomb. I forgot to take a picture of the dragon guarding the tomb.
Unsealing the tomb. He is Risen!!
Other things of this week.
Homemade peeps! Super easy and the kids liked them a lot. (Plus, no food coloring.)
There's always some complication.
Fancy Easter pasta salad shattered the bowl and required a lot of cleanup. Plus, we had to toss the regular salad Bryan was chopping next to me. But no one was injured, so I suppose we must be grateful.
Holy Thursday...technically Lent is over, and while the Tridium is an even more somber season, we chose to make Lambs out of Rice Krispy Treats to commemorate the institution of the priesthood and Eucharist.
We should work on our lamb creating skills for next year.
Holy Thursday Mass at Assumption Grotto where the boys were doing their retreat. Jude loved all thr pretty things to see, and seeing both boys in the procession.
These photos do not do it justice. It is a gorgeous old church. Worth the scary drive into Detroit 😉
Spy Wednesday we hunted for silver, commemorating the betrayal of Jesus by Judas. We also made wood fired pizza (symbolizing Judas' decision to burn in Hell?! Hmm....perhaps we will incorporate that better next year.)
Lucky for us, our resident pizza chef was off and helped us with our technique.
Last weekend we went to the annual play at Sacred Heart Seminary. This year, it was a play called The Bluff. It was actually written by a Seminarian. The kids absolutely loved it. They said it was the best play they've ever seen. (They've seen three 😆.)
It was a musical murder mystery comedy. I admit, I preferred A Man for All Seasons that was preformed last year, as it had a clearer moral and was based on the true story of St Thomas More. But, it was a cute play and the kids loving it was a certain bonus. They walked around quoting it for days.
We finally got snow last weekend. Late March before there was more than an inch, and it was still on 3 or 4 inches. A sad winter for our last real winter for a few years!
It was pretty while it lasted, and winter sunrises are my favorite. They're just so pretty.
