Judah Update

Judah started his day with some stories with Mikey. He's such a good sport reading to him!

He then, of course, fell asleep on the way to the hospital -despite the fact it was 8 am. A 90-minute drive is a long time to just sit there staring out the back window, it seems. I hated to wake him knowing what was to come. 

It was rough. First IV blew,but the second was successful. I thought we lost it but if we kept his arm positioned just so, it stayed good. He had a rough go of it all, we tried singing and Jude videos, TV shows and cuckoo clocks. It was over an hour of screaming before I finally just put my head up against his and starred praying the Divine Mercy Chaplet in his ear. That's what we pray at bedtime and it worked to calm him down and he eventually fell asleep. What a blessing.

Of course, shortly after they then had to remove the IV and catheter and about an entire roll for tape they had used to secure them. So that ruined the nap. But then we were free! Whole process was about 2 hours, a little longer than I remembered but yay for sucess. 

A quick snack of chocolate chip granola bar and we were all smiles before heading home! 

You couldn't ask for a better day weather wise. Cool. Sunny. Blue skies with fluffy clouds. 

So we went to the park for a bit to enjoy the weather! 

Dad made some "train tracks" for Jude to follow and it was hard to convince him to leave! 

While at the park, we got his radiology report. The scan showed "decreased functioning in the left kidney with collecting system obstruction.A majority of radiotracer accumulation is in the inferior pole."

In other words, his left kidney isn't draining, there is indeed blockage. The left kidney also shows decreased functioning. (39 percent v. 61 in the right kidney. Ideal is 50-50.)

It is presumed that the blockage is due to scar tissue from surgery.  We haven't heard from his urologist yet,  probably won't until at least Monday,  but he already mentioned that blockage would mean surgery. We also expect they would put in a stent so that would be anesthesia two more times, as they would need to remove it.
