Selah: Micah, your ninja costume is weird!
So, um, what does she think hers is??
Wishing we still had that Colorado sunshine, one gloomy Michigan winter day at a time.
It seems there are a few positives about taking the little there to the doctor. One is quiet time to read to them, which they really enjoyed. It's nice that Elijah is finally sitting for stories and doesn't ALWAYS turn the pages before you finish reading them!
There a neat little park not far from our house that is a giant wooden fort. This picture shows none of it, just some kids who look like they're about to fall out of their swings! We had the car Monday, to have Selah's lump checked, and managed to squeeze in a quick trip to the park in the rain which the kids loved. Even Elijah, who shockingly ran off to explore on his own. (A little nerve racking for me when he wasn't with any of his siblings!) It is nice to see him starting to exhibit some independence.
This is how Elijah likes to sleep. I usually dress him in a onsie when he's in bed with us, so he doesn't overheat. However, I usually wake up to him with cold skin (there is a ceiling fan on in our room.) Which apparently doesn't bother him because if I try to cover him up he yells and kicks until he's uncovered. But, I'm a mom, and it bothers me! So I went back to putting pajamas on him most nights (although it truly makes no discernable difference to Elijah.) I do have to say, though, the worst of it for me is that it's hard to stay covered up when he's on top of the covers!
In case I wasn't sure who took the 30 pictures of the living room carpet, he made sure to get himself in this one. It just makes me smile, to see his little face in the stamp.
Apparently, Micah got a hold of my phone and snapped a good number of pictures, mostly of himself or the carpet. In this one he got himself AND the carpet! And Noah peeking behind him.
The boys showered their coach in love...This time in the form of Orange crush pop. You'll never guess who supplied the boys with birth the pop and the idea...
They were very excited for their brothers to finish up their tournament, especially with another win!
I haven't taken many soccer pictures this season. Probably mainly because I haven't been at many of Jonah's games! And secondly, because it's hard to take pictures and keep an eye on 4 littles! I did get a couple, and even took some video during the tournament. Comically, I was videoing on Friday and had to stop to get the kids behind the line and while I was doing that, Jonah scored. So disappointing to miss it. And when I asked Noah why he kept crossing that line, he replied, "what line?" Turns out he couldn't see it, because it's Orange on green grass and he's colorblind. When I told Jonah the story, he replied, "there's a line?" Be careful when they're together, people! They seem to suffer from the same colorblindness!
Jonah's team, the Orange Crush, rounded out the season with a tournament this past weekend. They played well, and managed to win all 5 games and therefore take first. It was especially rewarding for them because they played the Orange Crush from another region in the final, which is who they lost to in the final of their tournament back in the fall. They played well, and had a great time. And I can only imagine how exhausted they are, because I'm exhausted and all I had to do was sit in the sun and watch! I'm thinking it'll be a slow starting week around here.
We had friends from out of town come up for 3 days last week, followed by 3 days in the sun for Jonah's soccer tournament, and watched the world cup with some friends yesterday. This little guy has kept up amazingly well, but I think he's ready to play catch up on some zzz's.
Elijah's first bandaid. He does NOT like the bandaid. At least we needn't fear he'll be a bandaid-aholic like his sister!
After realizing Selah was "missing"...
Me: Selah?
Hear drawer shut and little footsteps leaving my bathroom.
Selah: yes, mom?
Me: what are you doing?
Selah: I put it back!
Me: Put what back?
Selah: ummm....
As she walks around the corner and I see her, I see it's apparently make up she got into.
Pretty nice cross on her forehead, don't you think? Ash Friday? We can never be too aware of our sinfulness, right?
~Sarah
Selah: this is my pet snake. He's a mom snake. Do you know his name? It's Follow-the-Rules.
Do you think she's heard that phrase a few times?
I wish it was money, so I could keep it. But sadly, it's just proof that at some point last week someone left scissors out. And Selah found them. These were a very nice pair of lined pants. I guess they were too hot for summer?
Selah: what kind of fruit are mangos?
Me: um, tropical?
Selah: no no no, like how do they get mangos?
Me: oh! From a tree.
Selah: Oh. I thought they got them from pink flamingos!!
The boys' Legos. Not including the built ones and the ones in Selah and Micah's room. A year ago I put a freeze on new Legos until they organized these. They started (with me) but never finished.
I'm not backing down, this is a crazy amount if legos already!
Selah loves to have her hair cut. And the boys hate it. And of course, the boys need their hair cut far more often. So it stands to reason Selah would take matters into her own hands. It's hard for a picture to do it justice...she has 10 clipper guides stuck in her hair. And yes, I hid the scissors before she could get a hold of them-we've learned that lesson!
Selah fixed the computer!
(don't worry, it didn't work before she touched it. But this is what else she did while I was cutting the boys' hair.)
hey dad,
Eating my fourth (half of a) piece of toast, watching the kids play outside. Mom tried to give me quinoa flakes. Worked for a minute. Then I saw her toast. Seriously?? I get flakes and she eats toast? Don't worry, dad. I screeched until she handed some over. Then I pointed to the leftovers on Selah's plate on the counter. More screeching resulted in more toast. Mom is surprised that I don't want to go play outside. I laughed and pointed to piece number 5. Good stuff!

Elijah stole, and then ate, half of my grilled cheese tonight. I admit, I let him. He didn't have a nap today, and went right to sleep with no squirming/scratching/thrashing so I was very hopeful. He slept 36 minutes. Should be a fun night.
Last week, the kids were playing outside with Bryan in the front yard. (I wasn't there, so this probably isn't the most accurate telling if the story.) Micah was irritated about a mosquito on his arm. Bryan was working on a project, so he didn't pay much attention and told him to smash it. A few minutes later, he was getting upset about the mosquito still being there. He insisted he had smashed it, so Bryan said to brush it off, thinking it had just gotten smashed into his arm. He tried, it didn't work, so Bryan went over to help him, brushed at it, and it didn't move. Upon closer inspection, he found it to be a tick. He removed it, all was good.
The following evening, Micah ran a fever and vomited a few times. He had a fever over the weekend but had been fine a couple days so it was very strange. Coupled with the tick bite, it was a little concerning. We planned to take him in, but the next day he was totally fine.
Besides being a bit traumatized. As evidenced by his recent prayers...
Micah during prayer for the last few months: ....And thank you for everything in the world...except mosquitos. (He doesn't want to forget anything important when saying his thankfuls.)
Micah during prayer last night: ....And thank you for everything in the world...except mosquitos. AND TICKS!
We lost it. If you know Micah, he's always so serious. He doesn't say things to be funny. Which makes it that much funnier.
